The Golden Ratio

In mathematics and the arts, two quantities are in the golden ratio if the ratio of the sum of the quantities to the larger quantity is equal to (=) the ratio of the larger quantity to the smaller one.

DaVinci’s drawing illustrates that we see and judge the concept of beauty based on an innate sense of the Golden Ratio. It is the standard by which we determine if something is beautiful or otherwise.

Other artists as well used the Golden Ratio to construct their work.

Salvador Dali’s The Sacrament of the Last Supper is an excellent illustration of the use of the Golden Ratio as it the geometric work of Piet Mondrian.
